California Music & Culture Association

Barbary Coast works as an organizational systems developer and communications and government affairs liaison for the California Music and Culture Association (CMAC), a nonprofit trade association of venue owners and operators, industry professionals, artists, and fans dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of music, culture, and entertainment in the state of California.   In an effort to develop a unified voice for the industry, our team helped CMAC develop its internal infrastructure and membership systems, website, advocacy and government affairs network, educational materials, and brand identity and mission.  Barbary Coast also expanded into managing CMAC’s media outreach efforts, developing and executing internal communications strategies, and helping CMAC build relationships with key decision-makers and in the greater San Francisco community.

Frieda Edgette and the team at Barbary Coast Consulting were instrumental in the formation, growth, and development of our organization. Without the direction of their dedicated professionals, we would still be a disjointed group of business owners with common goals but no connection. BCC helped with all facets of our group’s development - from guiding our internal structure and creating our brand identity to managing and coordinating our media outreach. BCC deftly guided us through the political landscape ensuring that we fostered long-term relationships at all levels of city government. Their understanding of the inner workings of City Hall was essential to our long term success.
