Drew School

Barbary Coast assisted the Drew School during the planning and entitlements process of their LEED certified school expansion in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood.  Barbary Coast worked to overcome initial opposition from local residents and community groups.  Using a combination of community meetings, door-to-door outreach, and design sessions, Barbary Coast was able to bring the neighborhood into the process. Over the course of nearly three years, a coalition of community members, businesses, and neighborhood groups were brought together to support the project. Our team was able to receive unanimous support by the Planning Commission, and despite an appeal attempt by the opposition, the decision was upheld at the Board of Supervisors.
