A dedicated, energetic communications professional with a passion for public action...That’s Davidson Lao, Our Project ManagerA San Francisco native, raised in the Richmond District, Davidson has studied how business and politics function in the city from a very early age. He uses his knowledge, along with a diverse set of communication and analytical abilities, to help Barbary Coast’s clients’ goals come to fruition. Since joining Barbary Coast as an intern in 2009, Davidson has dedicated himself to success: providing our team with detail-oriented written communications, diligent outreach efforts, and strong support for his colleagues. Davidson has been deeply involved in outreach efforts in San Francisco’s Sunset District, as well as various communities in Oakland. His efforts to produce time-sensitive Oakland CEDA materials and coordinate community organizers at the city’s Planning Commission meetings have been of value to his clients. Davidson earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from UC Irvine. Prior to his work at Barbary Coast, he interned at City of College of San Francisco, producing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) materials based on enrollment trends of the school’s eleven campuses. In his free time, Davidson tutors at SMART, a non-profit organization providing academic and personal support for San Francisco’s underprivileged youth, keeps up-to-date with local sports, and maintains an active interest in urban development and sustainability. Through kiva.org, all Barbary Coast employees make interest-free microloans to people in need around the world. Davidson’s Kiva partner is Meas Mom, a single mother of three from Phnom Penh City, Cambodia. Meas supports her family by sewing clothing and selling it to local villagers. Currently, Meas travels on foot to make her living. She will be using her funds to obtain a motorcycle as a means of reliable transportation. |
